The Red Sox play in a T-ball league in western Kentucky.
The team consists of boys and girls ages 3-4. For most, it's
their first exposure to gloves, bats and bases. The first
couple of practice sessions are always focused on basics,
such as finding first, second, third and home plate.
Once regular-season play begins, teams compete in a
5-team round robin format, playing each team twice. Score is
not kept for these games and each team bats through its
entire lineup in each of the three-innings every game.
Players have the option of hitting off of a baseball T or
having a coach throw to them.
Most start off the season hitting from the stationary T,
but graduate to live, yet soft, overhand tosses by the
midpoint in the season. The T- ball league is a great
opportunity to introduce youngsters to America's pastime...
and there are plenty of photo opportunities for parents and
grandparents !
