While looking for a better way to do pre-game BP, three coaches/dads from Jackson, TN developed Yard Balls.

Jimmy Carey

Jimmy Carey has coached baseball at the high-school and youth level for 13-years. His high school career included stints at Camden High School and University School of Jackson. His USJ teams won three state championships and finished runner-up once. Jimmy has coached three state high school player of the year recipients and 14 of his players have gone on to sign college scholarships.

His youth teams have won numerous state titles:

bullet 16-year old CABA State Champions
bullet Connie Mack State Champions
bullet Mickey Mantle State Champions

Jimmy presently coaches both the 8-year old and 11-year Jackson Coyotes. Both teams regularly finish in the top of state and national tournaments.

Jimmy's day job has him working as a pharmaceutical sales rep for Eli Lilly Company.

Charlie Garrett

Charlie Garrett has been a youth baseball coach for eight years. The last three with the 11-year old Coyotes. The Coyotes are three-time champions of the USSSA Fall Nationals held in Southaven Mississippi and finished eighth in the 2007 USSSA nine-year-old World Series held in Kansas City, MO.

When not coaching baseball, you might find Charlie officiating TSSAA high school football. He has been a TSSAA official for over twenty years and has been fortunate to work all levels of state playoff games including the 2001 Division II state championship.

Charlie's full-time job is Vice-President of Garrett Plumbing and Heating in Jackson, TN. His company helped build Pringles Park, the AA minor league stadium, and the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex located in Jackson.

Kyle Spurgeon

Kyle Spurgeon has been a youth baseball and softball coach for the past twenty years. He has been fortunate to serve on the coaching staff for teams that have won tournaments at both the state and regional level.

In 2008, Kyle was inducted into the Jackson-Madison County, TN Sports Hall of Fame for his work in helping to develop the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex. The Sportsplex is a 17-field baseball/softball facility located adjacent to Interstate 40 in Jackson. He also served on the leadership team that brought the 2003 Dixie Boys World Series to Jackson.

Off the field, Kyle is the President/CEO of the Jackson TN Area Chamber of Commerce.
